Jazz in the Park Offers Live Entertainment...And Fun! Jazz in the Park, the popular summertime outdoor concert series presented by the Golden Isles Arts and Humanities Association (GIAHA), marks a milestone this year—its 20th anniversary! On June 21, from 7 to 9 p.m., enjoy Jazz in the Park’s second of a six-concert series, featuring J.B. Scott’s Swingin’ All-Stars performing Chicago Swing and New Orleans jazz. JB Scott’s Swingin’ Allstars has a broad, versatile repertoire that includes tributes to the classics from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s to well-penned original songs. The style is reminiscent of Louis Armstrong’s Allstars, New Orleans Traditional, Chicago Style, and even a bit of Big Band Swing, with influences that include Louis Armstrong, Clark Terry, Ruby Braff, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Lee Wiley, Peggy Lee, Eddie Condon, Trummy Young, and Kenny Davern. To quote Bill Harding, a long-time fan and follower of the group, “JB Scott’s Swingin’ Allstars is a real wealth of experienced, creative musicianship in one fantastically entertaining group!” Bring a chair or blanket and a picnic supper. Cost is just $10 for adults and $5 for ages 6 to12; children under 6 are free. A season pass (six shows) is only $40. Concerts take place on the St. Simons Island Lighthouse lawn, at 12th and Beachview.
