Jekyll Island, which has the Deep South’s only oceanfront convention
center, would be a great place to host your next conference with its
2000 people flexible-meeting-space accommodations.
The island’s Tennis Center was voted by Tennis Magazine as one of the
“Top 25 Municipal Tennis Facilities” in the nation. There are three
championship 18-hole golf courses to chose from, all of which play from
a centrally located Clubhouse. The whole family will enjoy hiking the
20-plus miles of paved paths which extend throughout the island. You
can bring you own bike or rent a bike.
Horseback riding along the beach and carriage rides through the
Historic district are also available.
The Tidelands Nature Center is a great place to learn about the natural
wonders of Jekyll Island . Children will love being able to experience
the touch-tanks, and there are guided kayak tours of the marsh and
local eco-systems.
Next door to the Tidelands you’ll find the Summer Waves Water Park
which is a great way for the whole family to enjoy getting cooled off
in the heat of the summer sun. From June to mid-August, local wildlife
guides give shoreline walks in search of the giant sea turtles which
return to Jekyll Island ’s beach each year to lay their eggs in the
sand before returning to the sea. Fishing and boating are also enjoyed
by many of the island’s visitors along with great shopping and fine
dining.
