JAZZ IN THE PARK SIZZLES IN JULY!
Golden Isles Arts and Humanities Association (GIAHA) is pleased to present Jazz in the Park 2006,
featuring Jacksonville’s Sam Rodriguez and ensemble on July 9 with the
hot sounds of Latin jazz. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. at the
St. Simons Island Lighthouse lawn. Admission is $10 for adults,
$5 for children 6-12, and free for children 5 and under.
Striving to preserve the African heritage in Latin American popular music,
the distinct musical personality of percussionist Sam Rodriquez
reflects Puerto Rican bomba and plena, guaguanco, samba and Latin
Jazz. His broad scope has earned him the praise and respect of
the many artists he’s worked with, including Anita Baker, Al Jarreau,
Barry White, and Gladys Knight.
Bring a chair or a blanket to relax on and a picnic supper with your favorite beverage, and join your friends and neighbors and other music lovers for Jazz in the Park 2006.
